有一次，一隻狼的喉嚨被骨頭哽住了，便去找鶴，求她將長喙伸進自己的喉嚨，取出那塊骨頭。隨後，他又補充了一句：“我會好好犒勞你的。”鶴按照狼的吩咐做了，很輕鬆地取出了那塊骨頭。狼熱情地感謝了她，然後轉身就走了。這時，鶴大喊道：“你說好的報酬呢？…‘你說什麼？”狼齜牙咧嘴地說，“你可以大肆宣傳自己的頭曾經伸到一隻狼的嘴巴里，並且安全地拔出來了，這難道不就是給你的獎賞嗎？”
