從前，有一個勤勞的農夫，可是他的兒子們都很懶，家裏的葡萄園全是農夫一個人在種。

一天農夫快死了的時候，他想讓自己的兒子們和自己一樣勤勞，於是農夫把兒子們叫來告訴兒子們一個祕密，說：“孩子們，我就要離開這個世界了，我在葡萄園下埋了很多寶物，你們去把它們找出來吧！”兒子們非常開心。父親去世後，他們把那葡萄園的地全都翻了一遍，什麼寶物都沒找到，卻把葡萄園的地很好地翻了一下，所以這年比以前結了更多的葡萄。他們變得比以前有錢了，兒子們從此也變得和農夫一樣勤勞了！

A Farmer，being at death’S door,and desiring to impart to his Sons a secret of much moment，called them round him and said，“My sons，I am shortly about to die；I would have you know,therefore，that in my vineyard there lies a hidden ，and you will find it.”As soon as their father was dead，the Sons took spade and fork and turned up the soil of the vineyard over and over again，in their search for the treasure which they supposed to lie buried found none，however：but the vines，after SO thorough a digging，produced a crop such as had never befnre been seen.
