【劇情簡介】：
影片講述的故事發生在虛擬的未來世界，那時的英國變成了一個由獨裁者薩特勒(約翰·赫特飾)所統治的法西斯極權主義國家，人民生活方在殘暴的統治下，疾病、饑荒、灰暗，且祕密警察無處不在。在這裏，外國人、同性戀者和反對人士都會被抓入集中營處死。
艾維(娜塔莉·波特曼飾)是生活在這個國度的一個柔軟的少女，一次她不幸落入了政府爪牙的魔爪，就在生死危急的關頭，一個頭帶一張露齒而笑的面具，身披鬥蓬的神祕怪人(雨果·維文飾)將她拯救了出來，臨走時這個神祕怪人告訴艾維他叫作“V”。不久，艾維又被抓進了集中營，看守剃光了她的頭髮，對她百般凌辱。而這一次，神祕怪人“V”再次適時而出，將艾維救出了火坑。“V”告訴艾維，自己是一個用極端暴力手段對抗政府的所謂“鬥士”，目前正在策劃一個計劃，他準備效仿1605年的蓋伊·福克斯，1605年，蓋伊·福克斯和同伴在國會大廈下面埋了36桶炸藥企圖將當時的殘酷的獨裁政權轟掉，但計劃敗露，被英王詹姆斯一世於當年11月5日絞死。而他所帶的面具就是英國人一眼就能認出了蓋伊·福克斯。艾維被這個具有不可思議的戰鬥能力，詭計多端且手段極其殘忍的“V”所吸引，決定加入“V”的行列，和V一起組成了“V字仇殺隊”。
