【電影簡介】
一個麻省理工學院的數學教授，在他繫上的公佈欄寫下一道他覺得十分困難的題目，希望他那些傑出的學生能解開答案，可是卻無人能解。結果一個年輕的清潔工威爾在下課打掃時，發現了這道數學題並輕易的解開這個難題。
威爾聰明絕頂卻叛逆不羈，甚至到處打架滋事，並被少年法庭宣判送進少年觀護所。數學教授有心提撥這個性不羈自我的天才，要他定期研究數學和接受心理輔導。數學難題難不倒他，但卻對於心理輔導，威爾卻特別抗拒，直至遇到一位事業不太成功的心理輔導專家桑恩教授。在桑恩的努力下，兩人由最初的對峙轉化成互相啓發的友誼，從而使威爾打開心扉，走出了孤獨的陰影，實現自我。
