一到寒暑假，我就會去外婆家，和小表哥玩。我最喜歡的是那裏的井水和河水。河水清澈見底，井水十分清涼，可以直接飲用。
可惜，今年，我回到外婆家，發現井水和河水已經完全變樣了：河面上飄着一大堆的垃圾，有透明的、有白色的、有紅色的；還有一些樹葉、鴨毛、雞毛也浮在河面上可涼地呻吟着；河底的垃圾更是讓我受不了：不知從哪裏來的糞便，岸邊的小石頭上長滿了青苔。
小表哥閒着無事時，會拿把掃帚把一隻雞趕到水裏。於是，雞身上的灰塵全掉到水裏。
晚上放煙花的時候，小表哥把放完後還在發熱的沖天泡扔到河裏，這樣不知毒死了多少小魚，還給周圍的環境帶來了很大的污染。
污染過的河水也會污染到乾淨的井水。這樣，乾淨的井水就變得噁心，不能再喝了。

我家門前有一條清澈見底的小河，裏面有好多小魚，小蝦，水草，河水不深，夏天可以去河裏游泳，洗衣服，孩子們可以打水仗，周圍有好多房子倒映在水中，十分美麗，使人看了就舒服。
以前我住在這裏時，每天都快快樂樂的，有這條河水陪伴我，多麼舒服啊!
幾年之後，這裏的`小魚不見了，水草死了，小蝦也已經不見了蹤影。河水開始漸漸變得渾濁，也有了幾分臭味。因此，人們開始討厭這條河，漸漸離它遠去了。河對岸的老奶奶，整天嘆着氣，說:‘‘哎，高樓倒是建起來了，可這小河卻變得髒兮兮的，現在的社會啊!”
我們科學研究小組通過考察，發現在小河附近有家工廠，工廠每天排放了很多污水。倒置小河變髒。我們與那座工廠的老闆反覆商量了好多次，老闆終於決定買一個污水處理器，然後，我們在小河邊的土壤上插上這樣一塊木牌:保護小河，人人有責！
我相信，有了這些措施後，那條小河將會和以前一樣清澈，那樣美麗，自然。以前不見蹤影的小魚小蝦都回來了，夏天有可以游泳了，水草又活過來了，這條小河又可以陪伴着我。讓我每天都十分快樂。

我的老家在江西省新建縣的一個小山村裏。
以前，我們老家很窮，走着泥巴小路，住着木頭小屋，可生活得十分開心。因爲那裏山青水秀、鳥語花香，美麗極了。而且，那還有一條清澈見底的小溪。那裏春夏秋冬都很美麗，不過最美的還是夏天。小孩子都跑到那條小溪裏游泳、玩耍，裏面的小魚也跟着嬉戲。大人們在小溪裏洗衣服、在大樹底下聊天、乘涼。
又過了幾年，我再次來到我的老家，那完全變了，木頭小屋變成了一棟棟高樓，聽奶奶說，現在人們都富裕了，砍下樹木做成了一棟棟高樓。我連忙向小溪邊跑去，看見那條小溪已經變成了“垃圾場”，上面漂着瓶子、果皮、廢紙和雜物等，再看看曾經長着大樹的地方，已經變成一片片裸露的土地。我多麼希望時間能倒流，讓那些人們保護環境，不到處扔垃圾，亂砍樹木。
唉！什麼時候才能變成我夢想中的家鄉啊！

Environmental problems are becoming more and more serious all over the world. For example, cars have made the air unhealthy for people to breathe and poisonous gas is given off by factories. Pollution is, in fact, threatening our existence.

The earth is our home and we have the duty to take care of it for ourselves and for our later generations. Fortunately, more and more people have realized these problems. Measures have been taken to cope with these problems by the government. Laws have been passed to stop pollution. I hope the problem will be solved in the near future and our home will become better and better.

Air pollution is one of the major problems of the modern world.
A great deal of energy is needed to run the factories of modern industrial nations. Automobile, trains, planes and busses need energy, too.
Nearly all of this energy is produced by burning fuels. The burning produces wastes, some of which remain in the air, causing air pollution.
Scientists are finding ways to stop air pollution especially in big industrial areas and densely-populated cities.
They are studying new ways of generating electricity that may be less damaging to the environment. In the meantime, many power plants are being modernized to give off less polluted material.
Also, engineers try to design and locate new power plants to do minimum damage to the environment.
However, it may be that we still have a long way to go before we have a "clean" world.
Nearly all of the countries are trying hard to prevent and control air pollution. There indeed seems to be no end to tasks that environmentalists will be required to do.
People will continually find new ways to control pollution.

Too many cars have caused a lot of serious problems in our world. Besides congestion, accidents and fast fuel consumption, cars are responsible for a good part of air pollution in big cities.
One possible solution is to design and develop clean cars and clean fuels. In Shanghai, some of the public buses begin to run on natural gas, which does not give off as much carbon dioxide as petrol. Another solution is to develop modern public transportation systems and restrict the use of private cars. If the price of petrol rises constantly and the public vehicles are efficient and convenient enough, most people will not buy private cars. Thus, the total number of cars in big cities will reduce greatly.
On the whole, the elimination of air pollution needs the collective efforts from the government, the public and the environmentalists.
