2. 重複或進一步解釋的內容可以略讀

文章作者爲了把某個問題講解透徹,往往採用多種表達方式來重複自己的觀點,或者給自己的論點加上了許多引申的內容。這裏的.“多種表達方式”可能是使用冒號或that is, namely來進一步闡釋。基於考試的角度,我們完全沒有必要去欣賞文章作者的文采飛揚,不同表達手法的構思精妙,而是隻讀觀點,理解含義。如果一句話和上文是同樣一個意思,或是對上文的引申敘述,考生應大膽略讀。

例3 If that were an examination topic, most students would tear it apart, offering a long list of complaints: from local smog(煙霧)to global climate change, from the felling(砍伐)of forests to the extinction of species. (20xx.1 CET6 Passage Two)

譯文:如果這是一道考試題,大多數學生會將它駁斥得體無完膚,然後列舉出一大堆不滿:從局部的煙霧到全球氣候變化,從森林砍伐到物種滅絕。
